Installation procedures
For correct installation, follow the instructions given in the Installation, Use and Maintenance Manual provided by the manufacturer and the technical installation standards in force. The installation of stoves and fireplaces in accordance with Italian technical standard UNI 10683:2005 involves the following phases:

Checking system compatibility
Before installation, arrange an on-site inspection by qualified personnel to make certain that the installation site is compatible with the combustion system.
The check must pay special attention to:

  • The load capacity of the floor
  • Installation adjacent to combustible materials or on floors made of inflammable material (permissible provided that suitable protective material is interposed)
  • Minimum volume of the environment
  • Characteristics, dimensions and material of the chimney/flue
  • Suitability of the chimney pot
  • Air intakes
  • Presence of other heating appliances

Smoke extractor system
Connection to the flue:
  • The flue must receive one heat generator only
  • The execution of a system consisting of a chimney and cooking oven with a single extraction point is permitted
  • It is forbidden to connect outlets from the extractor fans of cooking equipment to the same smoke extraction channel

The chimney (flue) must be:
  • Separated from combustible and/or inflammable material
  • Made of suitable materials to withstand mechanical stresses, heat, the action of combustion products and condensate
  • With a chiefly vertical route with deviations not exceeding 45°

Commissioning and documentation
The installer must provide the customer with:
  • The use and maintenance handbook for the appliance supplied by the manufacturer
  • A general description or diagram or photographic documentation of any system modifications

Air intake
  • Ensures complete combustion of wood
  • Prevents internal consumption of oxygen
  • Prevents pressure reductions in the room

Smoke ducts
The ducts must be of constant section; changes in section are permitted only at the output from the appliance

The smoke channel or couplings must be of suitable material for the combustion of solid fuels; changes of direction must be made using open elbow joints not exceeding 45°; they must also be of constant section.

The flue must be sealed against the escape of combustion products; deviations must not exceed 45°. The dimensions of the flue must comply with the directions of the manufacturer. Direct extraction of combustion products must be through the roof.

The chimney pot must have an internal section equal to that of the chimney, be constructed in such a way as to allow the entry of atmospheric agents, and be positioned in such a way as to disperse the combustion products adequately.
The air intake must be executed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and allow the intake of an adequate amount of air for combustion.

Electrical and water connections
Follow the instructions given in the Installation, Use and Maintenance Manual provided by the manufacturer.
The specific requirements for the water circuits of heating systems such as solid fuel stoves and fireplaces for domestic heating with an open or closed expansion tank are governed in Italy by standard UNI 10412-2.
