“Water for the School of ex-soldier Children in Sierra Leone”
For Christmas, we thought to assign to a social-minded and useful scope the amount usually budgeted by JOLLY-MEC for the season presents devoted to our Clients.

We all wish to contribute for solving the many emergencies which unfortunately afflict the humanity; in particular we directly got to know about the dramatic situation of the School of CALABA TOWN, in Sierra Leone, attended by about 400 “ex-soldier children”.

The great problem these children have to face together with more or less 3.000 people of the Community they belong to is the lackage of water, as the only existing well isn’t able to meet the actual request. We really want to take part in realizing a recovery system of rain water which falls 5 months a year but gets lost.

We live in a peaceful part of the World and the opportunity to help less lucky people lets feel us a great joy.

Hoping both your and our altruism would co-operate to assure an happier future worldwide.

REPORT ON THE 2009 “CABALA TOWN” PROJECT.
The project presented last year and named “Water for the secondary School of the ex-soldiers chidren”, aimed at the secondary school in Cabala Town, suburb in Freetown, has not been realized since teh AVSI Association (Association of Volunteers for International Service – www.avsi.org ), promoting the project, could finalize together with UNICEF a more decisive intervention, that is to connect directly with the public water system, almost 2 Km far from the School.
The intervention, which is still being realized and is totally financed by UNICEF, offer a great advantage both in quality (water available all year and not only in the rainy season) and in quantity (not surface or meteoric water, but water taken in depth, thus surely less contaminated).
The contribution transferred by our Company have thus been used for other urgent and equally important work to complete the school.

This institute, built and managed thanks to the founds given by AVSI, welcomes 1.500 pupils from to the nursery to the secondary school. Responsibles of UNICEF and Ministry of Education defined this as “the best school in Sierra Leone”.
Academic results puts it constantly among the three firts as far as the quality of teaching is concerned.

It helps remember that more than the half of the students (the poorest ones) do not pay any fee and attend for free ordinary classes, tutorials, sports and recreational activities and have free books, notebooks, clothes, shoes, pencils, medical treatments, uniforms...
The other students pay but a symbolic fee.
